Being highly sensitive is simply another valid and
valuable way of being in the world.

If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, seen as ‘too much’ or ‘not enough’ in a world quick to label and separate, you’ve found the right therapy home with me.

Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) is someone whose nervous system is naturally more responsive to sensory input and environmental stimuli. HSPs experience life with deep awareness and care.

This sensitivity is a profound strength, yet it can feel overwhelming in spaces that don’t fully honor it. Those with this trait may sometimes feel misunderstood or “different,” and HSPs can feel “othered” by the world around them. But, high sensitivity is neither a disorder nor a disfunction. It isn’t something that needs to be fixed.

This is a neurodivergent trait. It is part of your natural temperament, present from birth, and found in about 1 in 5 people regardless of gender. It is not something learned or caused by a particular event—it’s simply how your brain and body are wired to experience the world.

The Inner World of Highly Sensitive People

As a Highly Sensitive Person, you feel life more deeply—emotionally and physically. You might:

  • Have been labeled “too sensitive” or “emotional,” yet misunderstood for the depth of their feelings

  • Sense others’ emotions and unspoken needs with ease

  • Feel overwhelmed by noise, chaos, or intense sensory input, longing for calm and quiet

  • Be deeply affected by cruelty or violence in media or real life

  • Struggle to keep strong boundaries, sometimes absorbing others’ emotions or giving too much

  • Need to retreat or seek solitude when stimulation becomes too intense

  • Carry a rich, imaginative inner world filled with reflection, depth, and creativity

  • Prefer heartfelt, meaningful conversations over small talk that feels draining

Therapy can be a powerful ally for Highly Sensitive People where sensitivity is understood and validated—not treated as “too much.”

In therapy, HSPs can learn to recognize the early signs of overwhelm, build tools to navigate overstimulating environments, and strengthen emotional boundaries.

This process nurtures self-acceptance, resilience, and a sense of ease in daily life.

With the right support, sensitivity can become a source of clarity, connection, and inner strength.

If you’re a Highly Sensitive Person who also holds layered identities

If you’re a Highly Sensitive Person who also holds layered identities—whether racial, ethnic, cultural, or spiritual—your sensitivity may be even more nuanced. You may feel both hyper-visible and unseen. You may have learned to suppress your sensitivity to survive in environments where it was misunderstood, pathologized, or punished.

Therapy can support you in:

  • Navigating cultural and familial expectations that conflict with your sensitivity

  • Healing from the pressure to "toughen up" or suppress your emotional depth

  • Exploring how systemic oppression, cultural erasure, or intergenerational trauma shape your nervous system

  • Reclaiming your sensitivity as ancestral wisdom, not weakness

  • Creating safety to show up fully—emotionally, culturally, and spiritually—in your relationships and your life
